Most of the times, when we install Windows XP, we assume that our internet access speed will be enhanced. But in the contrary, you may feel that In windows XP Internet speed is slowed down. This is due to a default service which reserves around 20% of bandwidth unnecessarily.

Here are the steps to follow to improve your Internet surfing speeds in Windows XP.

  • Log in as Windows XP Administrator.
  • Go to Start > Run and go to gpedit.msc.
  • Go to the 'local computer policy'.
  • Next go to 'administrative templates' branch, and the 'network' branch.
  • Select the 'QoS Packet Scheduler' in the left window.
  • Double-click the 'limit reservable bandwidth' setting in the right window.
  • Then, on the Setting tab, check 'enabled', and change the 'Bandwidth limit %' to read 0.
  • After doing this, you should immediately notice a significant speed boost in your Internet connection.
