What is Spyware and Adware? How to remove them?It is a well known fact that, Spywares and Adwares are serious threats to any internet surfer. When I started using internet, I struggled a lot with these meanaces. And this article has been written keeping in mind, an internet user who has little or no idea of Spywares or Adwares. What is a Spyware? In its most easiest form, we can say that, Spyware is a harmful program(like notepad, paint or calculator) which installs itself to your computer, without your knowledge. In most cases, these spywares will enter your pc, when you install an Ad supported freeware or while surfing a malicious website. Once installed, these spyware programs, starts collecting details of your activities. These details may include your personally identifiable information(including Social Security number, Credit card number, Your Email id and Passwords). They are also clever to send this collected information into a specified web server regularly, again without your knowledge. What is an Adware? Adware is some thing similar to a Spyware, but a bit less harmful. Usually an adware will not collect or transmit any personally identifiable information. Instead, they try to collect information on your overall internet surfing habits. The general intention of an adware is to help deliver you the most appropriate type of ads while you surf the internet. How can i know that, my pc has a spyware/adware? Generally speaking, Its difficult to identify their existance. Some spywares do have symptoms like, slowing your pc, displaying huge banner ads or redirecting you automatically to a specific web site (like www.searchcentral.cc). Some spywares(specially porn related), install programs which automatically try to dial a predefined paid international pay per call porn chat. These are called diallers. How to remove spywares and adwares? Unfortunately, these programs can't be removed easily(like deleting a file). You have to use certain programs which are specially developed to identify and eliminate them. These specially built programs are referred to as Anti-Spywares.
